Mark, You know there is always going to be the "teeny-bopper" factor and I think every group has some of that but I have to defend Crows fans here a little. You know I have been doing this website and interacting with Crows fans who also like the Himalayans for many years now and I have to say they have proven to be an amazing group of people. Like me, I think a huge part of their interest in rock is in the lyrics as much as the music... I could never deal with a band that had nothing to say to me in the lyrics. This is a huge point, from the very first time Adam sang with us up until now I have been always blown away by the content, intelligence and depth of the lyrics and the quality has never wavered. Crows fans have always seemed very intelligent to me and what's more, they have been so kind and accepting of the Himalayans. They could just have easily not liked it or dismissed the music but they have embraced it and, frankly, helped sustain me in my effort (and it has not been easy to do) to keep the Himalayans going by showing interest and a genuine love of our music as well, which is different than the Crows. In one case, fans helped me totally redesign my website just because they loved the band and wanted to see it better represented on-line. This is a good question but this is how it seems to me, the crowds you see in the videos are our friends and the fans we gathered in our two years of playing live. Unfortunately, we never had the broader exposure to see what kind of fans the Himalayans would attract but it would have been cool to find out. For now, I'm pretty happy with the gang we have. I know one thing that is interesting, somehow this music we made here in the Bay Area has been purchased in almost every country you can think of... amazing that it can have such appeal! |
